How the tour is conducted

First, you will be loaned helmets, flashlights, boots and coats. From the service hut you will then descend the stairs to the Kristof Adit (12 metres). The tour lasts about an hour, the route is 400 m long and runs mostly on flat ground (the sloping floor of the adit). You will see not only the adit itself and the downstream workings, but also the pride – the large chamber.

Sightseeing route

The Kryštof Adit is one of the oldest adits of the Mauritius Mine. It dates back to the second half of the 16th century and has been in use for over 200 years. The adit has been preserved in its original state to this day and thus serves as an illustrative textbook of mining and quarrying methods used from the 16th to the 18th century.

The initial part of the adit was rediscovered in 2008 after many decades and a new stone portal was built near the original mouth. Extensive safety works were completed in the adit in 2014.
